In Memoriam

This is the bittersweet story of professional MMA fighter Chase “and Cooper” Gibson. This feature film was initially meant to follow Chase, his twin brother, and fellow professional fighter Cooper “The Bitter Truth” Gibson. The film intended to pursue their unique relationship of how both overcame severe addiction with the grace of God and MMA.

This film was predominantly about a relationship between two twins who are fighters. Chase and Cooper are genetically identical but have very different views regarding sobriety, life, and fighting. The film looked at the subject of mirroring—how two images are identical yet opposite.

Sadly, two days before our first shoot, Cooper passed away, leaving Chase without the person who influenced him greatly and showed him the path to sobriety. Chase was left broken physically and emotionally. However, he did not let the recent event crush him. He agreed to continue filming and decided to take a short-notice fight days after his twin brother passed against none other than the man his brother was scheduled to fight.

In Memoriam is a compelling and gritty documentary about this resilient, dedicated character and his fight for survival as, for the first time, he lives life without the person he entered this world with. It is a story of grief, twins, combat sports, sobriety, and God.

WHITE LION

WHITE LION

This is the incredible story of M Dot R, a white, working-class man from the Isle of Sheppey who speaks and performs in Jamaican Patois. It is the story of his life-changing obsession with a vibrant music scene born out of Caribbean culture.

White Lion is an intelligent and delicately humorous documentary about this extravagant, controversial, and contradictory character and his passionate fight to find his place in the world. It is a story of poverty, performance, viral success, online abuse, and being part of a broader conversation about the unstable nature of cultural identity.

This film explores identity politics, especially the complex topic of cultural appropriation. All of this discussion lives alongside the story of M Dot R's undeniable genuine passion for a culture to which he has no direct connection.
